Noise Machine

A project made by a group of students at Universidade Lusófona, in Lisbon, in 2023, supervised by Adriana Sá. We built an instrument, the noise machine, a wooden box with strings, metal rulers and a spring, and presented it in a room at the university.

Signal chain

  • Instrument: the noise machine, built by the group.
  • Processing: sound, image and video processed in real time with Hydra, a small modular system and a Boss VT-1.
  • Output: projection in the room.

The photos show the noise machine, laptops running Hydra and the modular system with the VT-1. The noise machine later became part of an audiovisual performance open to the public at the same university.
