A.I. AM

A short sci-fi film out of Universidade Lusófona. I was the composer for the soundtrack: nearly everything you hear is a single steel-string acoustic guitar, recorded at the university studios in Lisbon.

Working alone on a steel guitar for a sci-fi short is a constraint I chose on purpose. It strips the score down to gesture — each note has to carry the scene on its own. Most of the choices were about what to leave out: no synth pads, no reverb tails longer than a breath, no orchestral doubling. Just the guitar, close-mic’d, against picture.
