O Compositor

An 18-minute horror short directed by Afonso Lucas and Rodrigo Motty and produced at Universidade Lusófona. The film follows Álvaro, a renowned cellist-composer who imprisons his student Mauro and turns the student’s suffering into inspiration for a new composition.

As Sound Director, I owned every sound-related decision from concept to final mix: on-set recording, composition and recording of orchestral musicians, sound editing, and sound design. The cello composition becomes part of the drama itself, binding musical performance to the film’s increasingly violent teacher-student relationship.

The film was selected for FESTin 2025 and won Best Portuguese Horror Short at MOTELX 2025. Its original score was nominated for Best Composition (Melhor Composição) at Prémio Curtas 2026.
